Mac Ayres - Globe Hall - 11.07.19

I knew he had a lot of songs I loved, but I didn't realize he had so many.

Dylan Streight opened up the night. Local and talented, Dylan delivers a stripped down, soulful rock set. With a full band to back, Dylan played a variety of well written songs. Every person in the band meshed together well, each boasting their unique instrumental talent. Given the chance, don't miss Dylan at his next Denver show. Have a couple beers, enjoy the r&b/Soul music, and relax. A great start to a great night of music.

Next up was Mac Ayres. Mac was impressive. I should start by saying I'm a HUGE fan (thanks to my brother for introducing). Mac brings soul, groove, and melody like not many others do today. Most of his music is moody and soulful, which reflected in the show. One of the highlights, included in the video below, was “Smiley Boy”. You could really hear the passion and dedication in Mac's voice, which was in full use throughout the night. Mac also sported a full band, which sounded like they've been playing together since birth. I was in heaven. The songs were just as good as their recordings, even better live. I knew he had a lot of songs I loved, but I didn't realize he had so many. Trust me, if you haven't already listened to Mac Ayers, do it. He has 3 albums out, the newest being Jukebox, and they are all incredible. We got treated to solo Mac as well, really showcasing his guitar and singing talent. I think this might be the last time Mac goes to a smaller venue after this tour. Go see Mac if he is in your town, do not miss it. If you like, Anderson .Paak, Pharell, Snarky Puppy, Daniel Caesar, Tom Misch, or good singing and live music, GO.

A note about the venue:

Globe hall is an intimate venue that is connected to a BBQ restaurant. There is a door separated each, which is very convenient! There is no seating on the venue side, but plenty on the restaurant side. Drink and food prices were fair, especially compared to most other venues around. The only downside to me was the restrooms. There are 2 single person private restrooms for the whole place, and not much of an area to wait except for around the tables that others sit at.
