I went to Larimer Lounge last Thursday night to check out Ekonovah. It was a fun evening that involved a mix of genres with plenty of great tunes to dance to. Tyler Burrows was the opener, who I talked to a bit after the show and he mentioned this was his first show back from a few years break. Nostalgia and 808s were the themes of his set which reminded me of some older Ryan Hemsworth with a modern twist [ ▶ ] . Burrows fulfilled his opener roll and got the night started with a bang.
Next up was DJ Lubejob who brought a great mix of house music to the night. He had energy from the start and was obviously stoked to share the music with everyone in attendance.
Plaid Hawaii was next, he brought a nice blend of house and pop to the night. With a Backstreet Boys remix and some of his music own mixed in, Plaid Hawaii was professional and played a fun mix to party to.
Ekonovah was finally up. I've been long anticipating seeing him since listening to his You Know EP and he really showed what he is capable of. He found a way to bring a great amount of danceable music while keeping a bit of his own edge to it. Playing some of his own tunes mixed in expertly with some more well-known selections, Ekonovah displayed his talents for the first time in Denver. With a recently released song, Be My Escape, Ekonovah is sure to gain a lot of fans in 2020, especially with the soon to be released Intertwine EP out on DND RECS January 30. He finished off his Thursday night set with some unreleased lo-fi music he had been working on, a welcome surprise to end the night. If you like Dillon Nathaniel, Taiki Nulight, Golf Clap, Bass House, or EDM in general, don’t miss Ekonovah the next time he is in your city.
