I got into The Ogden Theater a few minutes before the show started. I was pretty curious to see what the night would look like as I’ve only heard a few songs from each band playing. Public opened the show with confidence, they were just the right band to start things off and introduce Denver to their fun, pop-influenced indie rock. Public wasted no time in leading the crowd in chorus which was natural for them since their songs are filled with plenty of parts to sing along to. The energy they brought to their show was quite fun to watch and I'm sure they'll be headlining their own tours soon enough. They were grateful to be there and didn't let the crowd down for even a second. Check out their recent music video for a little taste of their sound, Make You Mine. Things were just getting started as Public left the stage. Next up was either Magic Giant or American Authors.
The lights got dim and the Band of Brothers Tour took a turn. American Authors and Magic Giant stayed true to their tour name throughout the night by taking turns playing a few songs and then letting the other band play some, almost like a friendly tennis match, hitting the ball (or song) back and forth. There were cover songs, sing-a-longs, and they even helped each other out on each other's songs at times. They played a game of *Plinko* to decide which band came out first, the first sign of the inclusive, quirky night ahead. Magic Giant won the game and wasted no time blessing our ears with their fun tunes. I really enjoyed how they truly co-headlined the show and think more bands should take note! They really made the night feel like we were part of the show. Their songs sounded great and their voices held up even after all of their passionate crooning and swooning. Check out these bands if you like ice cream shops, Eddie Bauer, Urban Outfitters, X Ambassadors, John Butler Trio, The Band Camino, or Neon Trees.
