Favorite Songs - September

  • GPS (ft. Bas, Xavier Omär) - Galimatias _ It was hard to pick one song as a favorite from this album, so I just chose the one with the newest video.

  • Godspeed - James Blake _ How could you not love James Blake singing a Frank Ocean song?

  • You Ain't Never - Young Roddy, Jamaal _ I've always liked Young Roddy's voice since the old Curren$y tapes. His voice is odd and quirky, it gives off a genuine feeling when you listen to him rap. Always rapping over smooth beats, Young Roddy brings in some really great story telling in this song and I wish I'd heard it sooner.

  • Lemonade (feat. Gunna, Don Toliver & NAV) - Internet Money _ The chorus is infectious and satisfying.

  • Windows - BT, April Bender _ My older brother had BT's album Movement In Still Life. This album was crazy to me at the time, I hadn't really heard anything like it. Ever since then I've kept a steady fan. I really enjoy Windows and how different it sounds to BT's older work. It sounds like a mix of the Seven Lions/Jason Ross and deadmau5.

I’ve included all of these songs in our monthly Spotify playlist:

Give me a follow if you want more playlists. I’ve added a couple workout playlists as well, here’s what I listen to when I run:

Favorite Albums & EPs - September

  • Renaissance Boy by Galimatias * Ok, this album is crazy good. I've got to admit, I didn't realize Galimatias had solo music out. I only knew about him through his Alina Baraz work. Anyway, I'm so glad this album exists, there are so many high points on it I'm having a hard time choosing my favorite songs. Extreme replay value.

    Standout Tracks:

  • Pout by Ryan Hemsworth * I've been a ride or die Ryan Hemsworth fan for awhile now, and his old mixes are what really got my into electronic music in a way. He's got an incredible ability to mix rap and hip hop with a bit of the EDM and trap rhythms. Along with his constant support of underground artists he believes in, he is steadily releasing quality projects. Pout is a somber mix of tunes that showcases Ryan's ability to include necessary detail while combining analog and digital noises that produce a reflective vibe and pleasing sound.
